One of the most important stories in the history of Curaçao started in one of the most picturesque places on the island, on top of a hill at Playa Kenapa.

A slave named Tula started a courageous rebellion against his Dutch masters here on the impressive plantation at Landhuis Kenepa. The slave revolt of 1795 and its brutal suppression by the European landowners is the central story of the museum.

The exhibition is spread over two floors and tries to show how people lived and worked in these unthinkable times.
