Lighthouse Klein Curacao
The strong northeast wind and strong currents that can occur around the island are the reason that this lighthouse was built on the island in 1849. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by a hurricane in 1877. Because of the great importance of the lighthouse at the time, it was immediately rebuilt after the destruction.
Thanks to the use of modern navigation tools, the need for a lighthouse has disappeared and little or nothing has been done since 1913 in terms of maintenance, which gives the lighthouse its current unique appearance.
